The Track 757 Invitational took place on January 28, 2024 where Southern Sprinters Elite showed up to compete as always. With many accolades to share, we have two stand out athletes who have won our Athletes of the meets title.

Madison Barnes

Madison, fondly known as Madi, is an exceptional senior member of our team, particularly renowned as the fastest 400m female runner. With this distinguished title, she carries a significant reputation, one she continued to uphold at the Track 757 Invitational. Demonstrating focus, strategic rest for her legs, and adherence to Coach Rohan’s race plan, Madi achieved an impressive feat—running the 400m in under 1 minute for the second consecutive track meet. Her outstanding performance didn't stop there; she secured gold medals in both the 200m and the 400m, achieving a personal best in the 200m by 0.15 seconds. Madi's ability to set and surpass goals is truly commendable, and her attitude and sportsmanship at the meet are nothing short of noteworthy.

Throughout the competition, she maintained a positive demeanor, exhibited confidence in her races, and even extended a helping hand to a fellow competitor in need of both emotional and physical support.

Madi's dedication is not confined to meets; she has been excelling at practice as well. Embracing warm-ups, stretching without prompting, and approaching her reps with vigor and tenacity, Madi consistently displays a strong work ethic. It's evident that her commitment stems from her mom's motivational words, as she often tells Madi, "Good, better, best, never let it rest, until your good is better and your better is the best!" Madi is very close with her grandmother, who can be seen walking around meets draped in Southern Sprinters gear and cheering for Madi during every race. Both her mother and grandmother instill in Madison the Word of God "I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13) as a reminder that she can do all of this and MORE. Beyond her track achievements, Madi has also made the honor roll for the second time this school year. Her mom's proud proclamation, "I love you Madi, and mommy is so proud of you!!!" resonates with our shared enthusiasm and admiration for Madi's remarkable accomplishments.

Terrence Dorsey

Terrence stands out as one of our 13-year-old superstars, competing admirably in four events during each meet. Despite his laid-back and chill demeanor off the track, once he steps onto it, competitors should beware.

Terrence embodies speed, swiftness, strength, and a fierce competitive spirit. His impact at the Track 757 meet was monumental, contributing to the 13-14 boys 4x200 relay's success by not only securing a gold medal but also setting a new team record with an impressive time of 1:37.01. Individually, his achievements were equally noteworthy, earning gold medals in the 60m and 400m, and a silver medal in the 200m. Notably, he achieved a new personal best in the 200m by 0.5 seconds and in the 60m by 0.13 seconds.

Terrence's prowess extends beyond the track, showcasing his talent in football. Maintaining a rigorous workout schedule multiple days a week, he ensures he stays in peak condition for both track and football. As one of the senior members of the teams, Terrence leads by example, completing workouts without complaint.

Congratulations, Terrence, on your well-deserved recognition!
